Konferencja jest organizowana przez Ośrodek Badań nad Judaizmem Drugiej Świątyni, Wydział Teologii Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego Jana Pawła II i jest poświęcona pamięci Józefa Tadeusza Milika (1922-2006).

Celem konferencji jest analiza cech literackich, teologii kapłańskiej oraz treści sapiencjalnych i apokaliptycznych Aramejskiego Dokumentu Lewiego. Dokument ten, oparty częściowo na Księdze Rodzaju, przedstawia Lewiego jako wojownika walczącego z mieszkańcami Szechem, kapłana wyświęconego zarówno w ziemskich, jak i niebiańskich ceremoniach, studenta liturgii i metrologii oraz założyciela kapłaństwa sapiencjalnego i apokaliptycznego. Konferencja weźmie pod uwagę niedawną publikację i rekonstrukcję Dokumentu Lewiego przez Józefa Tadeusza Milika w Les livres des patriarches: Édition des textes, traduction et commentaire. I. International conference Levitical Priesthood in the Aramaic Levi Document and Related Literature 20-22 May 2024, John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, Lublin, Poland

The conference is organized by the Center for the Study of Second Temple Judaism, Faculty of Theology, John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, and is dedicated to the memory of Józef Tadeusz Milik (1922–2006)

The conference aims to analyze the literary characteristics, priestly theology, and sapiential and apocalyptic content of the Aramaic Levi Document. This document, based in part on the Book of Genesis, portrays Levi as a warrior who fought against the inhabitants of Shechem. It also depicts him as a priest ordained in both earthly and heavenly ceremonies, a student of liturgical and metrological matters, and a founder of the sapiential and apocalyptic priesthood. The conference will address the recent publication and reconstruction of the Levi Document by Józef Tadeusz Milik in Les livres des patriarches: Édition des textes, traduction et commentaire. I.
